Set of 2 Waterproof Mini Mattress Covers

My wife and I have been trying as best we can to limit our new baby's exposure to harmful chemicals and materials while also valuing products that are earth-friendly, even though it feels like like swimming upstream in this day and age. We absolutely love our Nestig Wave crib (still just at the mini crib stage), but the mattress situation had us a little concerned. They offer the Lullaby Earth breathable, waterproof, eco-friendly mattress as an add-on, but it's a whopping $129 and you'd still end up with the included original mattress anyway that you... throw away? Store somewhere as a backup? I didn't feel great about generating that much needless waste and spending so much money, so I decided to stick with just the original. But when we unboxed the crib and the original mini-crib mattress, I was hit with a chemical smell, and nowhere did Nestig reveal what sort of chemicals might be on that original mattress (everything referenced the crib only). I was a little worried.

When I saw that they sell this breathable, more eco-friendly mattress cover (even though it is polyester—but I understand it's pretty impossible to make something waterproof out of cotton), that was our answer. Yes it's overpriced at $50 for just one cover, but it's not as overpriced as the Lullaby Earth mattress, and it allows us to effectively convert the questionable stock mattress into something more usable with more peace of mind, without wasting anything.
