Lindsey Metselaar knows how to tell a story—and this one begins at home. The founder and creator of We Met at Acme. This podcast explores millennial dating in NYC with honesty, humor, and vulnerability. Lindsey has since expanded her world with We Met at Baby and life as a mom to almost two-year-old Zachary. Now, she’s preparing to welcome a baby girl this December, and with it, a beautifully reimagined space filled with meaning, creativity, and warmth.
For Lindsey, this nursery is more than just a room. It’s a joyful transformation of her former recording studio into a space designed for her rainbow baby, following an ectopic pregnancy and an IVF journey she speaks about with openness and gratitude. Styled with a few Nestig favorites—including a Wave Crib in a serene, gender-neutral grove green—the nursery reflects a sense of freedom and fun that comes with designing for a second child. It’s whimsical without being overly “girly,” expressive yet calming, and rooted in the same intentionality that defines Lindsey’s work and voice.
This time around, Lindsey enlisted designer Jennifer Hunter to help re-create beloved elements from Zachary’s nursery (hello, patterned daybed and practical baskets) while embracing a less “by the book” approach.
I would describe it as fun, whimsical, creative, and warm! I love the colors and the fact that it's not typically "girly" but still leaves room for so much expression
I felt like I had more creative freedom this time! The first time, we really wanted to fit the typical ‘blue for a boy’ vibe. This time, we wanted to have fun and not be so "by the book." Nestig's products are exactly that!
I loved the idea of baskets for his laundry and a bookshelf. I love a great pattern for the daybed, which we recreated in this nursery thanks to Nestig's Artful Stripes set.
What's the routine right now? It's what he calls "baba re-re." We bathe, and then have his milk while we read his current favorite books of the moment. Reading is non-negotiable for us and has become his favorite thing.
Your son's favorite bedtime story? Right now he is loving Taxi Dog by Debra Barracca and What The Road Said by Cleo Wade.
What is the first thing you do after leaving his room after bedtime? Check on him in the monitor. Millennial moms, amirite?!
