A Photographer’s Take on the Perfect NYC Nursery
After years of capturing dreamy nursery spaces through her lens, photographer @kelseyannrose finally got the chance to design one of her own. In a cozy New York City apartment, she and her partner transformed their spare room into a vibrant, eclectic space filled with meaning. From a tiger print found on a spontaneous weekend trip to sculptural sconces and wavy ledges, every corner tells a story.

Colorful, eclectic, personal
It was pretty surreal! After capturing so many beautiful homes over the years, I've always wondered what my version of a nursery would look like. With the obvious challenges of living in a small New York City apartment, we somehow managed to transform our forgotten second bedroom into the perfect aesthetic collaboration between my partner and me, and it couldn't be more special.

One of the first items we purchased for the nursery was the tiger artwork hanging above the crib. I've been following the Budapest-based illustrator Enikő Eged for some time now, and her work seemed so fitting for a cool nursery space. We came across this print at a store in Woodstock during a trip to Upstate NY, just a few weekends after finding out we were pregnant and we couldn't resist!
The wooden scones on the wall are from a local design shop in our Queens neighborhood called Lichen. We purchased these sometime last year on a whim and were still waiting for the right place to hang them. Once we unboxed our Wave Crib in Walnut, we realized the wood stain was a perfect match!

The Nestig Wave Crib has been at the top of my wishlist since I started working with their team years ago–even before starting a family was anywhere on my radar! It's such a beautifully designed piece, and I love how it transforms alongside your little one into toddlerhood. With storage being an issue in a small city apartment, I've had to be sure everything I've purchased has multiple uses or will grow with us over time.
The Nestig x Eric Carle Very Hungry Caterpillar Mobile is the sweetest thing I've ever seen. I remember my parents reading the 'Very Hungry Caterpillar' stories to me as a child, and seeing it hanging in my son's room feels so special.
I'd say opt for a large dresser with really deep drawers. I was surprised by how much I can fit in the Nestig Cloud Dresser, and thank goodness, because we have collected more baby items than I ever could've imagined!
