The Sweetest Toddler Bedside Nursery

This nursery was made for cherishing more and more memories together. Dani Colding of @thecoldscraftsman walks us through her bedside nursery: how she integrated the Cloud toddler bed in the primary bedroom, her tips for designing a shared space, and the special moments that fill the room!

First off, tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Dani Colding and I reside with my family in Jacksonville, Florida! My husband, Jason and I, have three wonderful children who are 7, 6, and 2 years old. We own a commercial lawn mower showroom and repair shop. When I am not working in the office at our shop, I enjoy crafting, cooking, fashion, and styling my home! My family is in real estate so I have always been drawn to interior design and home styling since I was a young girl. There is nothing I swoon over more than a home that is styled to compliment the era or style it was built in! I love mixing thrifted, vintage, and new items in a space to make it feel whimsical and classic.

What was your vision for the nursery and what inspired it? Did create a moodboard?

I typically begin each space with an item that inspires me! For our primary bedroom nursery, my inspiration began with the Cloud mini crib. We have enjoyed the Cloud crib in each stage in our primary bedroom. My goal was to let our last child be in our room as long as it worked for our family since the Cloud toddler bed fits into our primary bedroom pretty perfectly.

What are your tips for designing or maintaining a bedside nursery?

Be choosy and minimal with what you need for your nursery space. Use items that you do not mind bringing into your own space. The Cloud crib is both beautiful and functional so we have no problem with it in our primary bedroom. Baskets are a great way to collect, organize, and put away belongings. We keep one basket filled with diapering products and extra blankets, and a second basket filled with our 2-year-old son’s trinkets and toys.

What are your favorite details in your nursery?

The Cloud crib itself! I had a different crib for each of my 3 children. The Cloud has been my favorite crib by far. Nestig thought of every detail with each stage and packaging! In the toddler stage of our bedside nursery, I adore the Route Rug in Bus so my son can play with his toys on a playful rug that is also washable! A washable rug is a major bonus point in my book!

We like to think about nurseries as spaces for everyday magic, any favorite parenthood memories in the room so far?

Simply being present with my son in his own little space is a core memory. Playing on the floor, patting his tush until he fell asleep in his crib, tickling him on his toddler bed, or cuddling up to watch a movie in our primary bedroom are just some of the sweet memories I can picture when I close my eyes!
