Eclectic, unique, vibe-y

What’s the story behind the surf theme of your nursery? What inspired it?

This originally was a guest room however I always had in mind that one day would be converted to a nursery. The surfboards are actually part of a bed I designed in 2019 for Versace at an exhibition during Miami Art Basel. It was the headboard of the bed. I removed the base which was kind of this ombre tie dye and I put the crib up against it. This bed really drove the design of the room and so I went out to create a sandy glowing sunset beach. I knew this theme would be versatile between a guest room and a nursery. It is also perfect for our lifestyle out in East Hampton.

What do you love about the Nestig pieces in your nursery and playroom?

Wave Crib in Walnut: I loved the warm toned finish and the rounded shape detail. It felt perfect for a surfer beachy room.

Seabound Shelf: We have a sea theme so we needed as much nautical motifs as possible. This piece is adorable but also genius with its shelves and bin storage below.

Creator Play Table: I plan on doing lots of crafts with my son so we needed a table and chairs. These are sturdy enough that even I fit in the chair!

Gingham Sheet Set in Buttercup: The bright yellow tones really make the perfect complement to the golden warm grasscloth wallpaper in the room.

From your perspective as an interior designer, what 3 essentials does every nursery need?

Wallpaper that inspires and excites, a rug to ground the space, and fun twinkling lighting

What’s one advice you would share with someone who’s designing their nursery or playroom?

My advice would be to create a world that can be totally imaginative and run with it 100 percent.

We like to think about nurseries as spaces for everyday magic, what are you most looking forward to in parenthood?

I am looking forward to using this space as a place for my son to dream in but also as a place I can teach and he can learn and for us to have those really intimate special moments surrounded by the things we love.
