Pre-Purchase

1. What is the Cloud crib?

The Cloud, Candy Cloud and Woodland Cloud are 3 in 1 convertible cribs. Designed to grow with your baby, they easily convert from a mini-crib, to a full crib to a toddler bed.

2. What are the difference between the Cloud styles?

The Cloud was our very first crib! It’s currently available in a medium walnut wood and white color combination or a light natural wood and white color combination. The Candy Cloud is the same design as the original Cloud, but is available in a variety of colors including Mint, Rose, Black Licorice, Bluebell, and Cotton Candy Blue, each paired with a light Brazilian pine. The Woodland Cloud is a rich take on our best-selling style—featuring a Brazilian pine frame in a walnut tone.

3. What are the Cloud cribs made of?

The Cloud and Candy Cloud cribs’ base, legs, and top rails are made from sustainably-harvested solid Brazilian pine, the spindles from high-strength steel and the mattress support from eco-engineered wood.

For the Cloud crib in walnut, the wood is stained to have a darker shade of brown, while the Cloud in natural wood and Candy Clouds feature the natural lighter wood color.

4. What safety standards or certifications does the Cloud style cribs have?

Greenguard Gold Certified.

Nestig meets and exceeds the safety standards set by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and ASTM International, most recently the ASTM F833-15 standard. We’ve also taken our commitment to safety one step further by testing and certifying our products with the Juvenile Product Manufacturers Association (JPMA) whose requirements go above and beyond the mandatory US governmental requirements.

The Juvenile Products Manufacturing Association certifies that both our cribs are non-toxic and that they have a high mechanical quality.

For materials and chemicals, safety in both the construction and paints/finishes is our top priority. When we use eco-engineered wood or glue, we always use TSCA Title VI compliant materials. This means that our products comply with the strictest formaldehyde standards.

All wood used on our cribs comes from reforested areas in Brazil that are maintained by our suppliers. We work with wood suppliers that are FSC certified, which adds an additional assurance that the wood comes from a responsible source with minimal impact to the environment. There is no fire retardant used on the crib.

We use a clear coat of finishing in our products to maintain the quality of wood over time. Our finishings and paints come from top-quality brands and meet all US safety requirements.

5. Do the Cloud cribs include a mattress?

Each crib purchase includes a mini mattress, but not a full size crib mattress.

Our mini cribs are a custom size, as a result, we include a mini mattress. The Cloud, Candy Cloud, and Woodland Cloud mini crib mattress measures 27.5” x 19” x 2”. This hypoallergenic mini mattress is made in Brazil from 100% polyurethane foam with a non-removable 100% polyester cover. It contains no lead or phthalates. It is designed with a newborn baby in mind and complies with all US safety and toxicity regulations.

Please note: The included mini-mattress is not waterproof, so we recommend using a mattress protector.

Nestig does not include a full crib mattress with the crib purchase so you will need to purchase one. The good news is, our Cloud, Candy Cloud, and Woodland Cloud full cribs and toddler beds are designed to be compatible with any standard sized full crib mattress, therefore you only need to buy one! If you’re interested, we have three different full crib mattresses available on our site.

6. Why does Nestig offer an upgraded mini-mattress?

Nestig has partnered with Lullaby Earth to create an extra-breathable premium option, which is available as an add-on. This 2" thick mini-mattress is made from food-grade materials, includes a removable breathable cover, and also has a waterproof backing. If breathability is at the top of your list, we recommend getting the upgraded mini-mattress.

7. What are the assembled dimensions for each crib conversion stage?

Mini crib: 30.25” length x 22" width x 31" height

Full crib: 54" length x 30.25" width x 36" height

Toddler bed: 54” length x 30.25" width x 31" height

Please note: For the mini-crib, this measurement includes the wheels, and for the full-crib/toddler bed this measurement includes their respective legs.

8. Adjustable heights

The Cloud, Candy Cloud and Woodland Cloud mini and full cribs have three adjustable heights. However, for the mini-crib, we’ve noticed that most parents use the top height, but any of them are safe for your little one.

To put the mattress support on the lowest level, remove the mattress support bolts and attach the mattress support directly onto the base of the headboard. (See step 4 in the assembly manual for more details.)

The Cloud toddler bed is designed to be elevated, and unlike the mini-crib and full crib it does not have adjustable height options.

Here are the heights for each crib as measured from the ground to the top of the mattress support (with wheels or legs on):

Mini Crib Mattress Support Heights

Lowest: 4.1" from the ground

Medium: 9.3” from the ground

Highest: 15.2" from the ground

Please note: A 2” thick mattress will sit on top of the mattress support

Full Crib Mattress Support Heights

Lowest: 9.6” from the ground

Medium: 14.8” from the ground

Highest: 20.7” from the ground

Please note: A ~6” thick mattress will sit on top of the mattress support

Toddler Bed

10”  from the ground

Please note: A ~6” thick mattress will sit on top of the mattress support

9. Do I have to use the legs for the full crib and toddler bed?

Full Crib: While the Cloud, Candy Cloud and Woodland Cloud full cribs come with legs, you can absolutely use the wheels instead.

Toddler Bed: While the Cloud, Candy Cloud, and Woodland Cloud toddler beds are designed to be used with the “shorter” leg, you can place it directly on the ground if you’d like. The legs are 2.75" in height, so if you removed them, the toddler bed would be 10.25” off the ground (measured from the ground to the mattress support).

10. Can the rails be removed from the Cloud Toddler bed?

Unfortunately, the rails for the toddler bed are not optional. In order to assemble the toddler bed, the rails are used to connect the headboard and footboard. Additionally, it is on the rails that the mattress support rests.

11. Why are the Cloud and Candy Cloud spindles made of steel?

We use stainless steel spindles on the Cloud and Candy Cloud cribs because it is the best material for bold, beautiful color. The strength and durability of the steel is the same as that of wood—the only difference is that the steel might occasionally feel cool to the touch.

The Woodland Cloud's spindles are constructed from sustainably harvested Brazilian pine

Safety is our top priority at Nestig and we can assure you that steel spindles are safe for your little one.

Post Purchase

1. How does the Crib ship?

All Nestig cribs ship from Brazil via FedEx Air. Shipping generally takes 7-10 days.

The Cloud cribs ship in two boxes. The first includes everything you need for the mini crib (including the mini mattress!), the second includes the full crib conversion kit and the toddler bed conversion kit.

While we ship all two boxes together, it is not uncommon for the boxes to be separated and delivered a couple of days apart from one another.

The list below shows all the pieces included in each box:

Box 1  |  Mini Crib

2x Headboard

4x Legs

1x Mini mattress support

2x Mini side panel

4x Wheels

Mini crib and full crib hardware

Box 2  |  Full Crib

2x Side panels

1x Mattress support

4x Small legs

1x Right toddler bed rail

1x Left toddler bed rail (#9)

Toddler bed hardware

Additionally, you will need to use the same hardware from the mini-crib assembly when you convert to the full crib.

2. What sheets do I need?

Our mini cribs are a custom size, so a standard bassinet sheet will not fit. However, our beautiful line of Nestig sheets are designed to fit both our mini cribs perfectly! They come in sets of two and are made of 100% GOTS and OEKO-TEX® certified organic jersey-knit cotton. Explore more here

Additionally, our full cribs and toddler beds are designed to be compatible with any standard size full crib mattress, therefore any standard size full crib sheets will fit.

3. When is the right time to assemble the crib?

We recommend that you assemble your crib 1-2 months before your baby’s arrival. This way, we have plenty of time to help you troubleshoot any unforeseen issues. Additionally, if the baby decides to come early, you’ll be all set with a crib for their arrival!

4. How long does it take to assemble the crib?

The Cloud cribs are fairly easy to assemble. It takes roughly thirty minutes to assemble the mini crib and twenty five minutes to assemble both the full crib and toddler bed stages.

5. At what age should I transition into the full crib and/or toddler bed?

The mini crib is recommended for ages 0-6 months. However, we have seen parents switch to the full crib anywhere between 3-6 months depending on how fast their baby is growing.

Once you transition to the full crib, we recommend switching to the toddler bed once your child begins to climb or reaches 35 inches (See below for the recommended ages for switching the mattress support height!).

We recommend you transition away from the toddler bed once your child's weight exceeds 50 pounds.

6. For the full crib, at what recommended age should parents move the mattress lower?

We recommend switching to the middle mattress support height once your baby is able to sit up independently and has begun to crawl.

We recommend switching to lower mattress support height once your baby starts to be able to stand on their own.

After this, you can continue to use the lowest mattress support position until your baby reaches 35" tall or begins to be able to climb, in which case it's time to convert to the toddler bed!
